IT Manager II / I, Aerospace IT

Position Description In this position, you will work as part of the PPG Aerospace global IT team in Sylmar, California.  PPG Aerospace is an industry leader providing transparencies, sealants, coatings and specialized chemical management solutions to aviation customers.  You will play an important role within a growing team responsible for application development, supporting and maintaining business applications (including, but not limited to, the global QAD ERP system), and managing both small and large application projects from a technical perspective.      The IT Manager position offers a unique career opportunity to interact with new technologies, lead a team in developing, implementing, and maintaining technical solutions for the ERP system and other business applications that interact with the ERP. This role will own the technical architecture of the existing QADEE ERP, which is used globally in Aerospace. Lastly, you will be expected to play an active role in working towards PPG IT's strategic initiatives to reduce complexity and adopt application standards.    Business IT Managers contribute to the achievement of business unit objectives by managing effectively and efficiently the implementation and support of information systems solutions. They are ultimately responsible for the successful implementation of project plans. An IT Manager collaborates with company customers, staff members, IT colleagues, and other stakeholders to define customer requirements, assess available technologies, and develop and present viable solution options. IT Managers possess a vast knowledge of various business processes used by systems applications and are able to recommend strategies and tactics to satisfy customer needs. They participate in the business support planning process.  This may include evaluating application software packages and making recommendations to management.   IT Managers provide analytical and technical expertise within an assigned business unit/function, helping to identify innovative solutions for business opportunities.  In this capacity, they must maintain awareness of current IT projects within PPG and planned projects in their own IT group in order to promote application sharing.   Technical The IT Manager is experienced with project management techniques and is capable of leading many projects at one time.  IT Managers understand the PPG architecture and methodology standards.  They plan, direct, and oversee all aspects of a project, and are accountable for ensuring product delivery.      IT Managers perform feasibility studies, translate requirements into appropriate designs, formulate and define application scope and objectives, and implement complete solutions.  They prioritize resources and tasks and are responsible for developing contingencies, adjusting scope and providing management feedback.  They monitor and report to management on the status of project efforts and are held accountable for controlling project plans and costs. IT Managers identify barriers to meet project goals and provide solutions to keep projects on track and on budget.   They also assure business application systems are developed in a way that complies with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices.    IT Managers must be able to propose innovative technical solutions, provide and recommend data security solutions when required, and utilize formal decision-making techniques to make alternative recommendations. They may prepare high-level proposals or detailed specifications from which applications will be developed.  From an application maintenance perspective, IT Managers must respond appropriately to system maintenance requests and use their analytical abilities to isolate and prioritize problems.  They are often designated as software custodians and are responsible for monitoring and implementing PPG's internal IT control policies.   InterpersonalAn IT Manager directly supervises project team members.  They possess superior coaching skills and are actively responsible for conducting the performance and learning processes for their direct reports. They must be able to delegate responsibility to others, and to set the priorities for the group's work.   IT Managers must resolve conflict, while fostering a good team environment, in order to fulfill the department's operating objectives.  They maintain good relationships with customers and IT colleagues to meet expected customer service levels.  They are responsible for on-time product delivery, which requires a clear understanding of expectations and capabilities of their team.  IT Managers are expected to work and communicate effectively with personnel at all levels within the organization.  They work with the IT and Business functions to determine the annual IT initiatives that will support their strategic objectives. Qualifications  Requirements A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline. Minimum 3 years of experience managing in an ERP environment Greater than 10 years of IT experience in business application design and systems development, including implementation and installation of systems A minimum of 3 years of experience in the use and application of project management methods and software Preferred Requirements People management experience Project Management (PMI) certification Technical ERP or a general development background is helpful (QADEE is a plus) Demonstrated experience in identifying and working with new and emerging technologies Experience working with time and attendance, shop floor, labeling, plant maintenance, supply chain planning, and other third party systems that integrate with the ERP Experience working with software vendors Familiarity with release management processes, specifically related to ERP systems Knowledge of development concepts Skills A thorough understanding of IT concepts, terminology, and practical application of current and emerging technologies Extensive analytical abilities and technical skills to evaluate alternative approaches and to recommend the most feasible and economical solutions Knowledge in extensive range of architectures, analytical and design techniques, database technologies, and programming languages Proven ability to design applications using the appropriate systems architecture, database structures, and communication and network technologies Demonstrated ability to lead and effectively participate in teams Strong interpersonal and human resource management skills Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in audience appropriate terms  Travel This position requires on average 10% travel with possible increases during customer deployments or related activity.  Global travel may be required in this role. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
