Supplier Value Engineer

Key Responsibilities
Leading the execution of multiple, fast paced projects of various sizes that facilitate sourcing strategies.
Performing detailed cost analysis of material and manufacturing processes to ensure that high quality products are delivered at lowest cost from targeted suppliers.
Partnering with key business stakeholders to ensure that all business needs are met and improved through sourcing projects.
Leveraging industry & internal experts as needed to ensure product requirements are fully defined to enhance quality through transfer projects.
Conducts market & industrial research to understand trends.
Recommends and influences development of sourcing strategies.
Identify new suppliers and technologies, analyzes the market and maintains a strategic suppliers and technology portfolio.
Lead or support supply base consolidation/product transfer projects.
Drive continual cost reduction initiatives and process enhancement at the suppliers.
Achieve the agreed procurement product target cost and realization timeline, translate product target into purchasing component targets, set up and lead the action plan.
Perform as technical liaison between R&D or cross functional team and suppliers in new production introduction process to ensure the achievement of gate targets through supplier selection.
Drive strategic supplier collaboration by involving suppliers in the concept phase of the new production introduction process
Facilitate or conduct Kaizen supplier workshops by defining cost reduction targets and establishing cost-sharing rules with suppliers.
Engage process owners in a review of active projects and capture of new project ideas
Maintain a project queue to be used for work prioritization, resource planning, and training
Facilitate brainstorms and other idea-generating activities as needed for improvement ideas
Drive and track cost savings and margin/throughput projects for the site and capture in a common database (currently Power Steering)
Performs other duties as needed and assigned.
Experience and Education
B.S. degree in Engineering or other technical field is preferred. 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is desired.
Functional and Technical Skills
Must be a self-starter that can work with minimal supervision and demonstrate team spirit and enthusiasm.
Trained or pursuing certification of 6Sigma LEAN yellow, green, or black belt.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and other basic computer applications is required. It is preferred that the incumbent possess knowledge in data analysis and statistics.
Works well in a team environment, balance multiple projects, and be able to make effective presentations.
Understanding of manufacturing processes and associated equipment (i.e., CNC machines, vacuum chambers, ovens, autoclaves, etc.)
Capable of working with a multi-disciplined team to drive progress.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
