Prevention Specialist

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Prevention Specialist provides and ensures quality school andcommunity-basedprevention education and
intervention services to high-risk youth and their families. The position
provides prevention education using Positive Actions and otherevidence-basedpractices, crisis intervention
and referrals to at-risk youth, their families, and school personnel. They will
assist in the coordination and implementation of behavioral health and
prevention services, working with schools, community groups,andother agencies. Conduct crisis
intervention, substance abuse screenings, assessments, or referrals when
needed. Collaborate with school personnel to develop strategies addressing
behavioral health and preventionandaddress alternative educational and behavioral placement opportunities for
students. Present, facilitate and co-facilitate various groups, individual,
family, and public education presentations. Coordinates and facilitates
activities which include meals, snacks, field trips, arts & crafts projects
and sports activities in support ofeffectiveand quality program delivery.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
+ Bachelor?s Degree or higher in education, social work or related
field or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE:
+ Two years? experience working with youth in chemical dependency
prevention, intervention, or treatment field required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
+ Ability and
willingness to report to work on time and ready for work on each scheduled
day.
+ Ability to effectively
communicate verbally and in writing with appropriate documentation skills to
complete reports, utilize data and communicate ideas constructively
+ Ability to establish and
consistently enforce appropriate boundaries with client/patients of Phoenix
House
+ Strong crisis management,
conflict resolution,andde-escalation
skills.
+ Must show anaptitudefor service and for working as part of
a team
+ Computer literacydemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and
web-based applications

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
