The Cost Accountant role is an essential member of the finance team whose main responsibilities relate to the Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.  Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Cost Accountant position is heavily involved in maintaining company cost system that will report accurate inventory and manufacturing costs and analyzing operation results for opportunities.        



         Month End Close responsibilities include: Validate the cost of goods sold accompanied by preparation and posting of accurate and appropriate journal entries. Maintain Inventory valuation in an accurate condition and in accordance with GAAP regulations and Dover Guidelines

         Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.  

         Update standard costs in the bill of materials.

         Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts.

         Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues.

         Manage companywide capital projects

         Other duties as assigned by the Corporate Controller

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Engineering.


Two or more years of experience directly related to the responsibilities outlined above.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

CPA or CMA preferred

Computer Skills:

Strong computer skills; must be an experienced user of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and capable of learning other personal computer applications (AS400 a plus). Experience in Oracle preferred.

Mathematical Abilities:


Analytical or Reasoning Abilities:

Employee must have knowledge of modern accounting theory, principles and practices and must understand the necessity for maintaining adequate accounting internal controls.

Communication Skills: (Writing, Foreign Language, Reasoning)

Employee must be capable of reading, writing, and speaking the English language effectively.

Employee must have knowledge of modern accounting theory, principles and practices and must understand the necessity for maintaining adequate accounting internal controls.



Effect of errors can be enormous, as the accuracy of the Company's published financial statements is critical to its owners, lenders, management and other external parties.

 In performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stop, crouch and kneel. Occasionally, the employee may have to lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs. Vision requirements include close, color and peripheral vision.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
